Vietnam, die Kueste runter bis nach Saigon

ok, zurueckgekommen von Halong Bay wollte ich eigentlich so schnell wie moeglich weg aus dem lauten Hanoi ... hat dann natuerlich doch nicht geklappt, bin irgendwie wieder mal paar Tage zwischen Fruehlingsrollen, Vietnamesischem Kaffee und der Bierecke versumpft und wurde dann dummerweise von einer fiesen Regen und Kaltfront verjagt. Jaja es hatte mindestens unter 20C, lach nicht - hab ich doch keine Schuhe mehr und Jacke auch nicht.
nunja, fuer den Weg Richtung Sueden kann man hier ein "Open Tour" Ticket bis runter nach Saigon kaufen und dann auf den Bus auf und runterhopsen wie man gerade lustig ist. Ist nen bisschen touristisch aber mit 16dollar fuer 1800km ziemlich guenstig. Also bin ich dann geflohen (vor dem Wetter) und runter nach Hue. Alles unter Wasser in Hue ... also einen Tag rumgelaufen und besichtigt und den naechsten Tag weiter nach Hoi An.

Hoi An war da schon netter, ist ne kleine Stadt mit netten franzoesischen Hausern, nem Fluss, 200 schneidern und nen haufen aelteren Touristen. Bin nen paar Naechte geblieben, unter anderem weil ich nen haufen Leute aus Hanoi und dem Lao-Vietnam bus wiedergetroffen hab. Da werden die Abende halt bisschen laenger. Weiter ging dann nach Nha Trang fuer meinen halbjaehrlichen Strandtag (einer langt mir - steh ich doch mehr auf Wuesten und Berge) der dann auch tatsaechlich bei schoenem Wetter, schoenen Wellen und feinem Sand stattfand. Bisschen nervig sind die fliegenden Verkaeufer hier, Feuerzeug ? nee.... Sunglasses ? ne.... Massage ? Mariuana ? Opium ? ... und kaum isser dann weg kommt der naechste, Feuerzeug ? ....
Aber das gehoert auch vielleicht nen bisschen vom Land, zumindest wenn man so auf dem Touristweg reist. Nervig aber auch die Motorradtaxis und cyclodriver (so ne art rishka) die stehn alle 5 Meter mindestens und es hilft auch nix wenn man laut genug nein sagt das sein Kollege nebenan es auch hoert .. der fragt trotzdem : Motocycle ? Mariuana ?

Bin mittlerweile in Saigon angekommen. Ich glaube ich werde so langsam der grossen Staedte ueberdruessig. Dieser Laerm ! Diese Hektik ! Verkehr! schlechte Luft! kein Wind ( und das bei 35C), Menschenmassen .. Saigon ist da vielleicht auch eines der eher schlechten Beispiele, ralativ teuer ohnehin. Wenigstens gibts ne Bia Hoi ecke ... nit ganz so nett wie in Hanoi allerdings.

Halong Bay

oh, i almost forgot about my trip in Halong Bay. If somebody doesnt know (shame on you) Halong Bay is that place in Vietnam where the sea meets 3000 karst mountian style islands. If you still doesnt know what im talking about .. whatever...

One of the only places so far that you reach cheaper by Tour then by yourself ... so i bargained a good price and then i set off for a two day cruise through the bay. Wonderfull ! And it is very relaxing to be out of noisy hanoi for a while.
Set by a very comfortable boat out for the cruise, visited a cave (ligthed like disneyland) and an village (in the water, on floats ... saw schoolkids making there way to the classroom by boat) on the way, then for the night in an good Hotel in the Island of Cat Ba + a couple good beers at the bar there and on the next day along another couple dozen islands back to Halong and on Hanoi.

yeah yeah ... these package tours can be relaxing sometime ... and with food included even more.

Lao to Hanoi, Vietnam

ok, the rest of my time in Lao was more of the relaxing kind. In fact it was the chinese new year that caused the Vietnamese embassy to shut down for a couple days .. so if found myself on the streets of Vientiane with an piece of paper in my hands that told me that i can collect my passport with the vietnamese visa not before 10 days from now ... took the bus to Vang Vieng - cant remember much from the days there, just that my bed was pretty soft, the rooftop terrace quite sunny and milkshakes really cheap. Oh and not the forget the view when just after sunset thousands of bats come flying out the caves !

After vv i just went down to Vientiane, got my passport and put myself on the bus to hanoi in Vietnam a 24 hour busride ... really not to recommend. The ride include a 4hour stop just before the border (in the middle of the night), but lucky me somebody had lao-lao to share ... and the night went very quickly :-)
Yes, and now i am in Vietnam and in the (not really shanty) city of Hanoi. The traffic is mad ! Vietnam has 70-80 million people and 10mio scooters ! in Hanoi perhaps every second person has one ! Everywhere you look you see em, every second there is one passing you very close as you walk along the street, sidewalks are in general blocked with them, as are entrys of every building ... the noise is awefull and not even stopps when you lying in bed and did i even told you about the smog ? in short : coming from rual lao - hanoi shocked me.

At least there is "Bia hoi" the local drought beer and so every evening everybody comes together on the beer corner, sits on the street with a glass or two (10 glasses - 1 euro) and tells the very recent storys and misfortunes about traveling in vietnam. And im right when i say that every city has his nice spots - that one is my favourite here.
